It is a racemic mixture, meaning it contains equal amounts of two mirror-image isomers: (alfaR, 4R)-isomer and (alfaS, 4S)-isomer. The (alfaR, 4R)-isomer is one of the two enantiomers (mirror-image forms) of brivaracetam. Enantiomers have the same chemical formula and structure, but their spatial arrangement is different.
